Summer brings with it a lot of power surges and lightning strikes. I've heard it said that a typical surge protector doesn't protect the HDMI interfaces from electrostatic discharge. Who's used a HDMI surge protector before?

I never envisioned that there would be anything like a HDMI surge protector. This looks to me like one of those things that every modern home theater needs. I checked online and it actually seems that they are very affordable.

The only thing I could think of that would stop a surge in the HDMI connection is a really good UPS/surge protector. Just stop the darn thing before it ever gets to your equipment.
