Put them in a 10ft3 box tuned to 40Hz with plenty of duct area. An example would be two 6" diameter ports, each 5" long or four 4" diameter ports, each 5-1/2" long. Brace the cabinet well.

Yes, put a pair of 2226 drivers in a 10ft3 box. Dimensions aren't critical, provided it's a rectangular box with no single dimension extremely long. I'm not concerened about internal standing waves above 100Hz because it's a subwoofer, so you'll low-pass it.

If you want a subwoofer cabinet for a single JBL 2226H, then make a 5ft3 box tuned to 40Hz.

Make the box 35" wide x 22" tall x 13" deep. Use two 4" diameter ports that are 5-1/2" long. Use 3/4" or 18mm Baltic Birch or MDF. Brace well using cross-braces (front-to-back and side-to-side) on each side of the woofer along the 35" dimension. The braces can be made using scrap cut from the panels.
