I'm not brave enough to jump into the DIY forum properly, but I see that some of you are really involved with it. What kind of things have you built? I've only made kit radios and amps, and actually studied it at college a little.

I've not tried anything since high school if I'm honest. I had a little experience with electronics in both tech classes and science, but I wasn't very good at it.

Hi, I guess the only thing I haven't built is a TV. And now that they are all digital flat screen I might consider that. Smile

Good Listening

Why would a flat screen be easier than the older CRT sets? I realize that the tube itself would have to be bought, but surely the flat panel would too?

Hi, The diy construction of a flat screen TV thought was not based on cost, just ease of getting it done.

Well if you are capable of doing that then my hat is off to you, I am suitably impressed! Have you been doing this kind of electronics for long?

I've never been good at electronics so I haven't ventured into building my own. I didn't pay attention in science class and apparently missed out on quite a few things.

Good for you gofar99 I wish I was able to do it but I'm not allowed to build anything involving electricity. I've caused enough problems with our electrical wiring at home! Oh well, we aren't all DIYs.

I have only done minor jobs, like cutting cables and soldering connectors on them. If I were to try my hand at making a radio or a speaker, I'd definitely need some guidance.
