Do any of you use a computer as the center of your media set up? We use a tablet that has been turned into a server so that we can send media from our phones, XBox, and several external hard drives to the television. It routes through our current home theater system but seems somewhat complicated.

Have you any better, simpler systems?

We use our PC as the main hub of our "stereo" in our bedroom. We upgraded the sound card and went with surround sound speakers. Now we can play music straight from iTunes or stream through Pandora. I love it!

We used to have a PC as the center of the system, but when we moved house we couldn't fit everything as it used to be. Technology had moved on so much that the tablet was so powerful anyway that it was all that we needed. It's quad core, 1.8gz with 2GB RAM, 3D accelerated graphics and so on, and the sound is as good as our current set up will produce. I'm not sure it could handle better speakers though.
