We have been talking about getting a scanner so that we can listen to the weather, emergency broadcasts, and police/fire chatter. Does anyone have a brand that they would recommend?

We had a police scanner back in the day that came from Radio Shack, but the thing stopped working years ago for reasons unknown and we haven't had another one since. We wound up buying an emergency weather radio from Kroger that I'm pretty sure is Midland brand.

Ilove, I'll bet that your community upgraded their radio system. The same thing happened here recently and everyone had to upgrade their personal scanners in order to continue listening.
