Please either give me suggestions or refer me to a source for information.

I am trying to replace my 1969 Heathkit stereo receiver. I have found few stereo receivers at reasonable prices. I was going to purchase a Onkyo TX-8050 which has a phono input. I will be using a Technics SL-BD22 turntable. Will this work? I have read some reviews that indicate that i will need a preamp for some turntables. Any guidance or help will be gratefully received.

I don't know what your budget is but I would go for a used integrated amp from audiogon.com, maybe a creek or a jolida or rega. You should be able to search by price see whats in your range and then research. If you have any questions about brands get back on here and ask or ask on audiogon. just make sure you buy from someone with lots of good feedback. I feel for you todays recievers are junk and multi channel. Good luck!
