Here is a quick blurb about Ray Dolby and his major accomplishments before his death at age 80. It's always a shame when the pioneers pass on, but at least he lived a long life.

I read somewhere that Ray Dolby had Alzheimer's Disease. One thing I always found interesting working with Alzheimer patients was the detail with which they could remember some things from the past while being totally unable to focus on the present. I wonder if he could remember any of the detail of his early work in sound development.

I didn't know he had Alzheimer's. It's a horrible disease since it steals the person away before they actually pass on. My grandmother doesn't remember me anymore. Sad
