Is it just me, or does anyone else here experience pain in the ear at the dentist? I just got back from there. The good news is no cavities. And I noticed while I was there that all noises there drowned out my normal ear-ringing, but (as usual) made my ears hurt. And I didn't get the drill. This was just the clean and polish. The whir of the polisher touching my teeth has always made my ears hurt.

No, dentist noises never made my ears hurt, not even when they are drilling. I wonder what can cause that pain. Have you mentioned it to the dentist or to a doctor?

Yes Chicken, I've complained about the noise and pain since I was little. Of course, as a child they just ignored me. (Yes, I was that screaming child the dental assistant and three other adults were trying to restrain.)
As an adult they would either ignore me, or overly medicate me, on the theory that it was "displaced" pain from the tooth. This also never helped.
When I got old enough to get nitrous, that at least helped me relax enough to sort of ignore the pain and let them work without biting anyone.
The whole experience certainly has helped me believe and understand when my autistic son can hear things none of the rest of us can!

I don't think it's that big of a deal, but I would still bring it up to a nose, throat and ear specialist. A dentist isn't really qualified to say much about something like that.

As a matter of fact, Nouri, I have. This has been my year to track down as many of my aches and pains and the like as I could. I've been in the care of an ENT since January. He's helped my breathing, and improved my hearing, but says the pain is either imaginary or TMJ. He told me to consult with my dentist, who assures me I do not have TMJ.

So, I guess my next step is...Disney?
