I want to buy my brother a birthday present and I know he'd love a home theater system. I'm on a budget of $500 or less here, so what are your recommendations for the best home theater system, complete in the box?

I don't have personal experience with all-in-one-box systems, but here is one for under $500 that has some decent reviews. I've never heard of Onkyo before.

Kenwoody - I don't know if your brother's birthday has passed by now or not, but if you're still shopping, I think you could probably find a component setup for less than $500. Check places like Fry's and Brand Smart.
