PA system using Three Pi as Mains and Three Pi Sub(s) [message #70881]

Any thoughts on this for a PA system in our rehearsal space/studio?

We have a big live room we practice in... it's about 26' x 23' x 12'(H). it's acoustically sorted out in terms of treatment and shape... we followed the Alton Everest's Master handbook of Acoustics when we built it.

We would like to mount the speakers in corners about head level for space and sound. Might only end up with one sub for now...

We are pretty loud. we'll be running analog synthesizers with gobs of lower octaves and vocals...

The system will also be used for "reamping" and playback of recorded material for clients... so quality is important... that's why I figured we'd go with Pi.... and also as I have the components for the Three Pis handy.

We would like to power the mains with a Hafler P3000 we have on hand.

Definitely don't run a single sub in that space. You've gone to the trouble to build the room right but you'll throw all that out the window if you just use one sub. There's no way to make that room right in the modal region with just one sub. So definitely run at least two subs in a flanking configuration as described below:

Cool! Thanks Wayne.

We'll cross that bridge when we get there... in the meantime I'm building the mains.

Do you see any issues with corner mounting these with them just above "door" level? We need to get them up above so the doors can swing open... should I mount them upside down in this case so the horns are about head level?

I'm building the shelves so I can add a little tilt to "aim" them too if needed.

If mounted that high, I would turn them upside down, yes. I have a few club installs done that way.

Also, you can run constant directivity cornerhorns upside down too. Mount the bass bin against the ceiling, bolt it into the studs. See my other reply to you:
