With so much piracy around, there are still some artists that sell lots of records in all formats. Who is the biggest seller right now?

Country outsells everything. This has been the case since the mid-90's when the industry basically quit making very many AC albums and made mainstream country music their defacto pop acts that could be counted on to sell with only moderate promotion.

Of course, I have absolutely no idea who specifically sells well.

Very popular metal bands do fairly well for themselves in Europe, such as Rhapsody of Fire. Metal is a form of pop music in Europe and sells very well there. The bands are mostly regional though, even though they have international record deals.

On the subject, lately every mainstream hard rock or metal album released for the american market and promoted here specifically has charted on the billboard charts.

Interesting that Country outsells everything. I am wondering who is the one that has sold the most ever. Are they or is the artist still selling?
