I'm watching Spike's movie and the scene where Malcom is riding in the car to his death they played Sam Cook's "Change Is Gonna Come". I had to go dig out the album and play that song again.
Jesus that guy can sing a song.
I don't see much mention of the good sound; Soul R&B is the foundation of all current pop music; what; did everyone forget?
All kinds of get-up about that elevator Jazz; where's the music man?
Otis Clay Shuggie Otis
Sam&Dave Sly Stone
James B.
Temptations."Papa Was A Rollin' Stone."
Marvin Gaye,"Troubleman."
Sam Cook and the Soul Stirrers
The Staple Singers
Issac Hayes,"Walk On By."
Oooh; gotta go put on some music....

And of the course the legendary Johnny Otis Show.

Something that for me was highly unusual was hearing Nina
Simone's recording of "Mississippi Goddamn" during a news show.

Just lately I heard a speech on that same news show by Professor/Reverend Michael Eric Dyson. I thought it _was_ Malcom X when I first turned it on.

Here is the direct audio video link to the speech:

I would like very much to read and hear this. I can't seem to get it to load on my PC. Would you happen to have the website? Thanks.
I used to go see Shuggie Otis years ago; once with the Johnny Otis band.
It was real rock; good stuff.

www.democracynow.org

has a full compliment of media styles to get their
broadcasts.

pod cast, bittorrent, over the net streaming with real player
which is how I listen to the daily broadcast.

I'll got back and see if the link loads for me and forward
any other options.

I believe a rush transcript is available for each day's
show as well.

It's well worth seeking out

brb.

Here is the rush transcript of the Dyson speech. [Below]

I'm recording it as an mp3 if you want me to send
it to you, I can make an attachment.

I don't know much about podcasting and I'm still pretty vague
on bittorents too, but that is the best way to playback
one of these broadcasts.

Send me a mail and I'll forward the audio. It's way
better than the transcript.

Yeah; that would be real nice. I'll get to you on the flip side.
Would the attachment read on Winamp do you know?

I sent it to postmaster-- the address you usually have.
but the file might be too big. I think it aborted once
while I was out and trying it again.

Going out again.

That address is just the one that ART uses for people that don't list an address. You'll need to ask John to drop you a line so you can reply to one of his E-mails.

ok.

Well, I think the file is too big for most mail anyways-- 23mb
for a speech nearly a half hour long.

When he catches up with this and wants a cd mailed,
I can do that, but it's easier to do it direct if
possible. It wouldn't save to 'sent mail' either.

I'm glad I made a file of it anyway. It will, I hope
get a bit of circulation in one of the curch communities
here.

Hey Lon; I really appreciate the lengths you are going to in helping me here; please let me know if there is too much involved or if I can do something to help facilitate the download; or anything else you may need .
I'll send an e-mail to you straight away.
