I hope the insurgents obey the geneva convention better than we do for the sake of those soldiers. I'd hate to think of them in some Abu Ghraib hole somewhere.

I hope they're not beheaded, that's gruesome.

It's unbelieveable. Makes you sick inside. These people; they make up some fairytale about some superior being and his prophet and some virgins in a mythical place. Then they use that to proclaim how superior they are to everyone else; get ahold of small arms and explosives and hand them out to everyone, then kill; rape ; murder and plunder an entire region. No respect for law or government; subjugate women, eliminate education or teach only what they want taught. Destroy anyones rights who doesn't buy into their silly world view or worship their plastic icon. Trample the safety rights of the population under the guise of fulfilling some self-appointed prophecies. I'm glad we aren't like that.

Yes, true. I think any sort of violence in the name of religion is evil. In fact, I think it's wrong even to promote a religion or "spread the word". If someone asks, fine. But I prefer a policy of attraction rather than promotion, perhaps by setting an example. So zealots really disturb me.

Fair Enough. The thing regarding the two soldiers; it's hard to take the high ground when you have Abu Ghraib and Haditha lurking in the background and you are in their country. Thats the really sad part of all this; called Epistemic Justification.
