Hi,
I have just picked up a pair of JBL2225h woofers and am trying to design a pair of enclosures for them. I`ve tried modelling in WINISD but keep struggling to get a good response curve especially in a sealed enclosure. What do you recommend? Sealed or ported? How many cu ft? I`m hoping i can do something around 5 cu ft.
Regards, Steve.

The JBL 2225 is a nice midwoofer. I'd use a cabinet from 2.5ft3 to 5.0ft3 tuned to 40Hz. That gives a nice smooth rolloff. If you want, I can send plans for the four π or seven π loudspeakers. The JBL 2225 can be used in either one.

Wayne,
thanks for the reply. I would very much appreciate a set of plans for the 4 Pi. I`m trying to get solid bass into the low 40s and am hoping these woofers will work out for me.
Cheers, Steve.

JBL 2205, 2225 and 2226 woofers aren't subs, but they are some of the best sounding midwoofers I've ever used. They have well damped cones that provide smooth midrange and flux stabilization that reduces distortion.

You can always add subs, which smoothes room modes in addition to increasing bass extension. I use four π speakers and three π subwoofers, and the sound is beautiful. It is delicate and powerful at the same time.
