Hi Wayne.

Would there be any downsides in mounting the tweeter horn in the bass cabinet, right below the midhorn in a 7Pi ?

This way I could get the tweeter horns of the front/left and center speaker pretty much the same height.

I could add a bit extra volume to the cabinet, to account for the volume taken by the horn and driver.

That's fine. I've done 'em that way myself. Do keep the vertical spacing down though, because the further apart, the narrower the null angle. This is what sets the width of the vertical arc of constructive summing.
