What size (ballpark) amps require the use of circuit protection- i.e. the light bulbs- for the compression driver? I didn't use them in my Pi4's driven by 2A3's, haha, but am making a pair for a friend who uses SS. Am using B&C 250's and 2226's.

Solder a couple of 211-2 automotive bulbs in parallel, and put them in series with the tweeter circuit, ahead of capacitor C2. That will act as a limiter, because the bulbs will start to glow at high power, which will increase series resistance.

I can't see having any worries below 400 watts. If you put half that much power into the tweeter as a pure sine wave within its passband, that would smoke it but the energy distribution is way down at tweeter frequencies for music, voice, etc. For that reason, the bulbs don't light up until you're really pushing the power.

thanks, Wayne. I'll find out about his amps- some kind of large Adcom, but I'm not sure how large.
