Hello,

I see that the tapped horn is starting to gain popularity in the pro sound realm and seem to do a great job in the low bass region. I am thinking about using the JBL 2206H for the low mid section playing from 100Hz to 500Hz. Do you think that the tapped horn approach would be effective in this frequency range?

No, I think it has too much HF ripple and distortion. Also, I don't think I'd use a folded horn for midrange. Better to use a simple straight conical horn in my opinion.

If I do a straight horn with a cutoff of 100Hz, How long do you think it would have to be? I don't want the cabinet to be wider than 24 inches and no taller than 36 inches. I don't know if I could get away with a shorter horn if I make its mouth a 20"x20" square.

A midhorn used from 100Hz up should be about 3 feet long and needs a fairly large mouth. You can try different configurations in Hornresp to see what you can come up. Here's one I did for the JBL 2226:
