The 1812s are gone so I took the 4 cu ft bass box with 2226 from the BatSpeakers and put the 1" DE200 with wood horns on top. The part goblins ate all my .47 caps so I'm using a .33 with just an 8 ohm resistor to juice the horn while it breaks in.

Out of balance with the woofer of course, but you can tell its gonna stay clear and extended even after the attenuation gets adjusted and the titanium breaks in.

I like the DE250 as well [message #51454 is a reply to message #51453] Fri, 05 October 2007 20:00 Go to previous messageGo to next message

It's extended, nice and smooth too. They have aluminum voice coils and polyimide diaphragms. I wouldn't have expected they would sound as good as they do, but they do. The diaphragm must be really light and have well damped breakup modes.

I got the 200 because I never heard of the polyimide 'phragm. Now I wonder which sounds better, that or titanium. Not much difference in price and now I see the 250 is on sale for $105.

I hear you. I tried out the B&C tweeters too. They sound very nice, so the diaphragm material is working for them. I've had good luck with the PSD2002, but the DE250 is a good tweeter too, and its price point is smack dab in the middle between the Eminence PSD2002 and the JBL 2426. The TAD 2001 is another good compression driver to look at, having a beryllium diaphragm and top-octave extension to match. But it's pricey. If you ever get a chance, check out the TAD 2001.

me too! I put some DE250's in my Stage 4's, and everyone thought they were huge upgrade. open, airy, couple kHz more extension, effortless. very nice for the price point- I got 'em for the $105 from PE. No changes in the xover. The 2002 is still king of the cost/benefit analysis, tho.
