Hi Wayne.

One of the options you mentioned for the cornerhorns in the past was a 3 way system with a midrange direct radiator in the front, and a second midrange over top of the bass in the corner horn section.

I was curious if I could do a 400-3000 range this way (the PHL's do this and I think you've mentioned over 250 in the corner works as a direct radiator) and what kind of efficiency boost does the second driver in the horn give?

Thanks in advance.

Grant.

I've built 'em with direct radiators for the midrange, and some of them sound very good that way. The corner still sets the radiation pattern, it's just that the walls act more as reflectors instead of horn flare extensions from the midrange up.

So roughly what rise in SPL do you get out of this arrangement?

A second option would be just to load in front and use MMH.

A direct radiating midrange is about 8dB lower than the same driver horn loaded.

Thanks. Have fun... [message #47973 is a reply to message #47972] Thu, 13 October 2005 19:14 Go to previous message
