The sound is a lot like the 1980's model of the one π with the JBL 2115, but it will handle a lot more power so you can push it further. I really like these little speakers.

Have you tried them with your Paramours? I noticed the 2206 has a 95dB efficiency.

I sold the Paramours. But I've listened to them on a couple other SET amps and they sound great, even with just one watt.

Wayne,

I'm replacing the studio Pi Two's- my son's taking them to college. Am figuring these will not give quite as much bass as the 2 Pi's- is that correct? If I got these, I'd build a sub later and have killer sound, or go with one of the Four Pi models instead of all that?

Hope you're having a Happy Fourth- gotta go grill Red, White & Blue burgers (roquefort cheese inside the meat!).

The two π tower most certainly goes deeper but the Studio two π has slightly higher f3 than the Pro three π. Both are good sounding speakers, but the addition of a shorting ring in the Pro three π is a plus.

so if the regular Studio Two in quarter space in my room has sufficient bass, then the Pro Three would have slightly deeper bass at same volumes?

Yes, the two speakers are similar but the Studio two π has about 1dB rise in the bottom octave and the Pro three π goes a little bit deeper. The biggest difference is the fact that the Pro three π has a woofer with a flux control ring.

Good problem to have. Sounds like these Pro Three's may be a very good option for me... or any of the Fours... or the Theatre Three's.... Have 'til the end of the month to decide!
