Had/Having a hell of a time dialing in the Great Plains 902B's. The quality is obviously there but I'm stubborn.
Details of the crossover tribulashyons below but I finally went to a .33 MPP cap from a .47 kicking and screaming 'cause it wasn't from Audience.
But that was it!
14dB.
And then I rolled the new JJ/Tesla 6DJ8's with the Sovtek 6922's and Svetlana 6N1P's.
The JJ's are so neutral! And the voices and instruments just float up there.
Almost have attained the unobtainable: "New York Tenderberry" on vinyl is MAGNIFICENT! I knew it was but never got the sound the engineers were after. Laura Nyro isn't a novelty, she's one of the Top Five artists of the latter decades of the Twentieth. Yeah!
And the SACD done just before her death, "Angel In the Dark", Oh my!!

I got a couple of 6uF motor run caps from a surplus store for $4(Cdn) each and replaced to polys I had in my Tangband single driver notch filter. They do would better! I never would have guessed that an "industrial" product can also have so much finess.
