Waiting for a friend of mine to build his 2 pi towers so I can give them a listen. Couple of questions.

What's the best way to order? Can you use a check or Paypal or must it be a credit card?

Pure opinion here expected:
What sounds better.....a 2 pi or a 2 pi tower? Which one ends up being more efficient? Or is the efficiency affected dramatically by using the different boxes?

The two π and two π tower are equally efficient from 100Hz up. Sensitivity is 95dB/2.83v/M. The difference is in the bass, with the tower offering deeper extension.

Most of us have built one or the other and have not had the oportunity to hear both. Wayne and a couple others are best qualified to do the comparison. The tower has a little different foot print and stands taller. If you have the room and a little more money for the wood... do the tower. The both use the same parts inside and the efficiency is really the same.

You could build something in between 2pi & 2pi Towers. A box with measures 40" X 13½" X 12" (H x W x D - outer dimensions) build with 18-19 mm (3/4") sheed will give you a volume of aprox. 2½ cb.ft. (70 liters). Tuned at 40 Hz the F3 will end up just below 50 Hz. So you'll end up with a floorstander of more manegable size than the Towers, albeit with not quite as deep bass. Just a suggestion.

What is so dangerous about being close to ordering speakers that are more efficient & go *much* lower in frequency response than what you have now? Especially when the kit costs about $100, and you can build 'em for next to nothing if you want...? If you go for it, you won't regret it.

...you'll start wondering what the larger Pi's must sound like what with 103dB efficiency and a great big ole 15" down below! and all for a measly $600 (as in my iteration) and a bit of sweat and dust and gobs of Proud Pappa enjoyment! ...but that's down the road a bit, eh!?
