It's not like the energy to run the incandescent bulb is free. If you can pony up to pay for the florescent or LED bulbs, that's fine. If not, you pay to run the meter. I think the market keeps things moving along just fine.

I agree, the market should decide. Not some lackey for the flourescent bulb industry.

I favor outlawing high energy use tubes (6C33C, 845, etc), class A solid state amps, and low efficiency speakers that require a large amp. If elected I will also support a loudness limit on home audio systems to protect peoples' hearing. This will be enforced through in-home microphones monitored by the dept of homeland security. In the interst of personal privacy these microphones will not be placed in bedrooms unless the sound level eminating from the bedroom exceeds 85dB in the adjecent room for a period of 15 minutes or more per day. I'm wavering on the recently introduced legislation to ban power cords larger than 22ga because of the fire hazard:)
