As you saw from the pix, the holes are drilled for the ports at 2"dia. The paper towel roll is 2 1/8" O.D.
Has anybody dealt with this? Ideas?
Should I just get a pair of plastic port thingys from P.E.?

Did we forget to include duct material in your kits? [message #38344 is a reply to message #38343] Wed, 18 September 2002 14:07 Go to previous messageGo to next message

The port is spec'ed at 2.0" O.D. with 0.030" wall thickness for an inside diameter of 1.94".

Did we send you the port material? Because if we did, you'll want to drill to fit. Would it mess up the veneer to do that?

If we forgot to send the port, let me know and we'll send it right away.

Hi Till E,
Had the same problem before. I cut open one side, trim it until it sits flush in the port hole and reconnect it with masking tape. Worked out just fine.

When I made mine, I couldn't get the tube to fit through the hole to go flush with the front of the baffle. I subtracted the thickness of the baffle and just glued a piece of the cardboard tubing on the rear of the baffle. It fit close enough, and with an extra coat of glue and some flat black paint throughout it looks good.

I have the duct material you sent, you know, the paper towel roll :)
Anyway, the O.D. is definitely 2 1/8 so you'll want to change the drawing dimensions.
Not a big deal, I just figured others have had to deal with it and wanted to know what worked. I haven't veneered, or painted, or leathered (?) the baffle yet. I think I'll prolly let gravity hold the tube in some glue as Matts wrote, adding the thickness of the baffle to the port length. Thanks Matts.

Thanks for the info, I'll look into it and check with the supplier.
