Hi Wayne:

Reading some of the history files, I note you were very high on the 2205 LF motor. These are still available .
Did you couple the 2205 with the 2410 HF driver?
I read the JBL spec sheets on these drivers. I would like to give it a go. What do you think? I did read the section on Obsolete Pi Speakers on your web site.
Do you still have the Data Package available for this obsolete speaker system? If yes, would you send them to me?

I loved the JBL 2205H. It was my favorite 15" woofer through the eighties. I didn't use the 2205 in a two-way configuration because it needs a lower crossover point. I wasn't particularly fond of the 2410 for hifi use either. But a three-way with a 2205 woofer, two 2105 midrange drivers and a 2405 tweeter sounds great! I used that driver set in a four π speaker and in a seven π cornerhorn configuration. That particular version was my most popular large-format loudspeaker at the time.

Is it possible to use the 2205 in as 2-way configuration? if so, what HF motor do you recommend?

Sure, you can use the 2205 in a two-way speaker. Just use a tweeter that can be run below 800Hz.

Wayne.... How would you compare the JBL 2446 or Eminence PSD3003?

They both are damn well the same size as the motors on some of these larger woofers... *drools*

Funny thing is the diaphragm of a large compression driver is as large as the woofer in some mini-monitors.

To tell the truth, I can hear a difference in the JBL 2446 and the Eminence PSD3003. Even with compensation, the 3003 sounds a little "quashy." You know, the sound made when listening to high hats through something limited to response below 10kHz or so.

"Quaaaaash."

It's not bad, but I'd probably choose a different driver than the PSD3003.
