Wayne, I want to build a pair of 4 pi's using JBL 2226J's (16 ohm) and JBL 2418's (8 ohm) on JBL 2373 horn lens. I know the quasi-first-order crossover I need (1.6khz). I need the plans for the cabinets. I will be able to build the cabinets while I am breaking in the 2226's (suspension stiff as hell - I have JBL 2205's that are broken in as reference). One other question I have: Is it necessary to have the horn/driver inside the cabinet, or can it be placed on top of the cabinet???? Please send me plans if you would. Thanks in advance. Regards, Ron

Check your mail. The only thing that's different with the 2226J's is that L2 should be 1.4mH. All other crossover components are the same. You can put the tweeters on top if you want. Lots of people do that, especially those with wood horn tweeters.

By the way, I love those 2205's. They were the part that preceded 2226's in all my designs using 15 inch woofers from JBL. Used a ton of 'em in the eighties.

Wayne, Thanks for the plans. I can't figure the depth of the port though. Regards, Ron

The port is 10 inches long, 6 inches tall and 3.5 inches wide, all inside dimensions.

Wayne,
Thanks for the info. At work where I have computer/internet. I can't find a print pgm to work on some of the e-mail/attachments I receive. I work for the Govt. so I have to sneak in my time carefully and do what I can.
That port area sounds fairly large for such a small cabinet.
