Ever notice how bass-players seem to like quad-10's these days? I have a friend that still likes to use midbass horns, but it seems like the "in thing" these days is the quads. What's up with that?

They like the midrange "snap" (speed). Single 18's are now passe. With a tweeter in the center (red ones preferred by them), you can hear the strings buzz. In short, bass players are mooving towards the midrange.

Yeah, I've noticed that. It's really the thing with bass players today. There are plenty of configurations that will offer similar performance, but the quad-10 configuration is very popular with bass players right now.

Wayne, how are you?

Punch, no need to do anything solid below 60hZ is what got them.

Personally, the cabs in SWR's and others that entertain 4/ten config, are missing, and they put a horn in there from 3K up for the fingers.

The 8/10inch ampeg was a full system with interaction and it could do justice...well it is a sales thing.

The finest bass rig I play through lately is the main PA or my own A7 or my other cabinet which is a single 18 in a 7cuft, 3 12 inch JBL's and 311 altec horn with an Atlas driver on the back with my phase plug I built.

I never need more than 50 watts no matter. Large stage too.

Hi Bill!

I'm doing fine; Thanks for asking.

How are you doing these days?

Wayne
