Great looking! Can you tell us more about the setup? What drivers, and what crossovers. Also, how do they sound compared to others you have heard?
thanx

I'm just going to start simple with a 2-way. Figure I have a better chance of getting it right. Later, I can build on this by adding something like the 2405 on the top and a 10" between the 2235 and 2445. But that's long term plan. I'll be using a pair of 2380's on the 2" compressions. I'm not going to be able to get going on this until late summer. Got too many projects around the house I need to get done first.

You can't buy the state of the art neodymium JBL pro drivers and neither can I or Wayne; at $11k a pop for Vertecs JBL is hoarding them for in-house, still selling the obsolete (relatively speaking, though still great) drivers of the 22.. and E series for OEM.

On the other hand, JBL consumer for the most part doesn't use JBL drivers either; they're mostly sourced out Vifa's (see your latest Parts Express sales flyer).

Wow, I wonder what THOSE sound like [message #16715 is a reply to message #16714] Tue, 13 July 2004 14:00 Go to previous messageGo to next message

They are a 15" 2235H, 10" 2122H mid, 2416H 1 inch compression driver with a 2307 horn with the H94 lense and a 077/2405 slot. Clasic 4 way JBL monitor. Crossover at 290Hz, 1300hz and 10k. The crossover is the 3145 which was used in both the 4344/4345 monitors. They are very smooth and dynamic and can really surprise you. You wouldn't think a set-up like that could be as subtle and revealing as they are. They image real well and the octave to octave balance is just plain amazing right out of the box. Lot's of fun to listen too. Well worth the time to build.

but in a Vertec with seven drivers the neo magnets mean a potential weight reduction of around a hundred pounds, which means a lot in pro-touring.

wow....sound good! [message #16719 is a reply to message #16716] Tue, 13 July 2004 22:34 Go to previous message

Wish i could hear them. While i like the wide band driver coherence, there are mnay advantages to multi driver designs with GOOD drivers. These sound like they would be really good. YOu dont live in or near Oklahoma by any chance do you?
:)
