Hi gang, there are as many different kinds of horns as there could be. Wide horns, narrow horns, straight horns, curved horns, bent horns, folded horns, some with many drivers, some with single drivers, front loaded, back loaded, whew! Can some of you give a brief synopsis of what are the pros and cons of each type? Thanks, Jackie

Going to be a bit more than 'brief' considering everything you asked! What exactly are you trying to do?

Have a look at this site too http://melhuish.org/audio/horn.html

Kicking around ideas mostly. The melhuish site was informative and shows formulas to find best size. Contour looks to be a little less clear cut since differences between shapes isn't huge. Lots of overlap there. Front horns look like the only way to make them, whatever the contour. Rear loaded response looks jagged as a sawblade, must be obsolete.

The fullrange boys use little fostexes with a back loaded horn with'success' i say 'success' because i havent heard one,but they love them :-)

Front loaded is more optimal, the rear sealed chamber causes it to be more linear.
