Hey Wayne;
Thinking about some crossovers for my JBL CS3115. They already have an internal crossover from the mid to the high. What would you recommend?? Please note, the woofers are a relatively unusual 4 ohm. Also the sensitivity of the woofer is 97db, like all 2226 models, not the 89db printed in the document. That is a misprint, I'm sure.

Have you checked into Marchland products? I'll bet Martinelli might be able to swing a good deal. Might check the JBL tent sale too; They may have an MPC or something like that available.

I've tended to stick with products made by JBL, Crown and Mackie for processors, parametric EQ's and things like that. Can't go wrong with them. I'll bet the same could be said of QSC, but I don't have experience with them like I do with the others.

This is what I came up with for runnung the CS3115's in total passive mode. Just buy all the parts and connect the ends of the parts so it looks just like the drawing. You'll be done. I believe the 2226G is 98db sensitivity with it's 4ohm load. better sounding too?

I'm thinking of ordering the JBL network for the SR4735 and putting in 8 ohm 2226's that I have in my big quad boxes. Then it'll have the Neutriks, etc. already with it.

I was going to order the crossover from the Venue VS3115.
Not familiar with the 4735. I figured the most cost effective thing to do would be just add the rest of the parts to what was there.

The VS is the same thing you already have with the CS3115, unless I am mistaken.
Furthermore, only the CS3115 ran the 40 ohm woofer; the Venue and the SR (Sound Reinforcement!) models used the 8 ohm model.

I am going to take some 8 ohm 2226HPL's from one of the big quad boxes, and order the JBL Network 129-30015-01, 101.42 available in online ordering from jblpro.com
This is the network from the SR4735X/F, same drivers (happens to be a "flying" model, hence the F); you get the connectors, the circuit board, and the complete harness for that price.
I'm gonna give it a fly!!!

Yeah the VS is identical to the CS. I was under the impression you could get the crossover for the venue which is totally passive, where the custom shop parts we have were bi-amp/tri-amp.

These speakers kick ass when hooked up to a little ole amp with all the passive stuff in place.

definitely kick some ass.
The "problem" with the passive is the points get quite a bit higher, with the gentler slopes. You can cross from the 15 to the 8 at 341 with a 24db LR active filter, but since the passive is 12db, they cross at 600. Also, JBL recommends .416ms delay on the woofer; not something we're going to accomplish with the passive. HOWEVER, it will be nice to be able to lug them around and run them off one amp or powered mixer, and also drag them downstairs for HT use. How many of them did you buy??

I kinda assumed that you wanted an active crossover. For passive, the solution Bill suggested using an LC filter and a Zobel should do the trick just fine. But for active, what about something like the JBL M552 or M553? Or then again, there are also lots of good processors, EQ's and mixers that will do the crossover and a whole lot more.
