Yes, they're visible up north. The thing is that you have to be away from the city lights and have some patience. It's uncomfortable to watch when it's cold outside, unless you're in a car or something where it's warm. If you're taking a drive out in the country, you'll most likely see some tonight. But if you're in the city, the lights make them difficult or impossible to see.
