Is there a program, software or anything downloadable that can automatically transcribe audio into text? I can see a need for this with deaf people, but from what I understand there are only transcribing services that do this.

Hi, I personally worked for a transcribing company and can honestly say that you get better results if a human is transcribing. However, you should check out this article, https://www.entrepreneur.com/article/225584

I tried transcribing and realized it wasn't my forte. Do you mean that these voice conversion apps can miss a word or two hence not 100% accurate?

I tried using Dragon with my lecture notes, but it has to be trained to understand a person's voice. It gets similar words mixed up or just skips ones it doesn't detect or have in the dictionary, so I don't use it any more.

I have seen good computerized transcribing, and I have seen bad computerized transcribing. On Youtube, auto English subtitles are often very wrong and sometimes amusing to read. However, I have seen on iOS, they have some voicemails transcribed for you, and those are more accurate. I was impressed. However, in terms of accessing this technology, I am not aware of it.

I've also tried those programs before, but in the end you get the best results from human transcribing. The technology is really good but it's no competition for humans... yet.
