SL2000. I think it was the first direct drive at a reasonable price. It has a stanton cartridge which I really don't remember buying. I would have sworn it had an Audio Technica.

Another Denon piece I wish I had bought back when was their MC cartridge w transformer. It was a great piece of gear. It blew the doors off everything in the shop.

Yes; I use a Denon DL 103 in my Linn. At least I did until I tore the stylus off the body while adjusting. I probably will return to that one when the Empire wears out. Thats such a great cartridge. Too bad they don't make them anymore.
My favorite cart; although it is really fat sounding is the Fidelity Research. That I am saving for some time in the future; probably after I have gone deaf with age.
Try bonding the stylus on your Stanton; what the heck, why not?

Isn't that just a silicone based sealer? I've got bunches of different glues and sealers from doing cars laying around.

Yes but it has some additives. I don't think it makes a difference; I would try any silicon based adhesive.
I listened to The Vienna Waltz on an RCA Shaded dog today. I must say I am very pleased with that system. Just remmember to track at the very high end of the range.

Yep; you have to get the 103R though. Thats about 350$ I think it is worth it. The Bellari will still need a step up trans I believe.

I thought that seemed awfully cheap. I remember that cart selling for 150-175 in 82, and the transformer was $100. But, if Denon has been making it unchanged for 44 yrs, I think their tooling and development costs were taken care of long ago.

Like a Briggs and Stratton 3.5hp motor. Unchanged for 50-60 yrs. You can buy them wholesale for $20.

I just need to get a TT first. I wish I knew enough to get something that's relatively cheap ($400 or less new) but would be a good starter rig. Might take me a year to save, but it's always nice to pick out what you're saving for.

Have you read the posts on the Technics? Don't sell that rig short; you really have to spend a lot of money to beat it. Is it that you want a belt drive?
