You're so right.

My high school nominated a "theme album" every year by its graduating class.  Ours was The Long Run by the Eagles.

Yesterday I pulled out a nice live album to play. And I'm not a big fan of live albums. Bands always seem to crank up the tempo on their songs. And other technical issues with capturing the live recording.

Wished I had seen this band before Lowell George passed.

Waiting for Columbus.

Dude, that's awesome!  I hadn't thought of "Little Feat" in a while, so I'm glad you brough 'em up here.

And you're so right about how rare it is to find a live album with good sound quality, especially in that era.  Tons of popular live albums back then, but few that really sounded good.

Funny, I started listening to Waiting for Columbus about a month ago after not listening to it for decades.

It still holds up.

Great music always holds up. It's timeless. Beethoven will tell ya that.
Another nice live album I have that conveys the event and sounds great is Elvin Bishops live album Raisin Hell. Another southern boogey band layin' it out in fine style with a horn section and bolstered with the vocal talents of Mickey Thomas famously in the band Jefferson Starship.

I always though Elvin was a ringer for Harpo Marx.
