America is a "Democratic Republic" actually. A republic is something different. If I understand you right you don't approve of people creating structures to do the business of government? How would you do it?
I can't find where I propose people should get paid for not working. As for choices; wouldn't everyone take the highest paid job if that were true? I mean do you know people who make a descision to work for less money? What do you mean by wave the flag?

America is a federal republic. That's the point - It's a representative form of government, not a direct form. The people are not the government; It is a distinct and separate entity.
The logic escapes me. I understand you might mean that since there are no individual initiatives that we vote on in most cases; and our elected reps do the voting then you say we are not represented as we should be. Is that true?
