The one's I've seen just basically explode. It'd take and F5 to pick a house up, but it would splinter to shreds instantly.

The Hesston nado was an F5 that went for like 60 miles and merged into another f5 if I remember right. Here's a pic off the web.

The Fugita scale actually rates a tornado by the damage it leaves behind. Some of that is of course related to wind speed due to higher wind speeds cause more damage.
