This is a current dvd title starring Isobella Rosselini and
directed by Guy Madden. I mention it here only because I yanked
it after a few minutes. I'm actually embarrassed for having my
local library stock it.
Having said that, I note that the purchase date was back in
January. That means someone else has been watching it between then
and now. So I can take myself off the guilt trip-- maybe.
Months ago I mentioned this film in relation a favorite and
rare recording by The Boulevarde Of Broken Dreams Orchestra and
figured that, naturlich!, Guy Madden would have that as part of the
film. Well, I didn't pursue the film to find out. I might come
back to it at some time in the future, but I'll need a pretty
persuasive _reason_ to do so.
Over the past weeks, I am catching up on Star Trek Voyager
episodes... _all of them_... since I quit watching tv when they
were new. Now with a dvd machine (my first one gotten a few weeks
ago) I can see them all sans commercial interuptions.
One thing that irks me about this: I feel it is a self referential
conceit to have Magel Barrett Roddenberry doing the computer voice in
every episode. She sounds like Eve Arden in the old "Our Miss Brooks"
radio series (which was then followed by a television version.)
I believe that this is called "fan service," in the parlance of
anime and other _otaku_ activities.
