Have always meant to get some speakers outdoors and these uglies seemed the perfect candidates.
Motive and opportunity merged today:

Home, Krap, Home.

I can't believe the difference in sound. Just stuck where the wire ended the imaging was incredible.

The bass was a little more prominent than indoors! You think it could be the floor? LOL.

Overall, I was struck by the coherence of the 2 drivers into a whole.

Inner detail is lost in the high ambient noise of the town.

The tomato plants seemed to like Townes Van Zandt better than Sonny Rollins.

Yes, it always sounds better outdoors. Lookin' good, just wondering why the grill isn't going! Cover is closed, fire starter underneath. The coals and steaks are all that's missing!

Back inside Nat, Freddy and Diana are doing the cooking.

I've previously mentioned how great the Freddy Cole SACD "Merry Go Round" is with mostly classics made famous by his big brother.

And Diana singing and playing on "All For You, A Tribute To the Nat King Cole Trio" is my favorite of all her work.

Thats what's cooking on these little 2-ways with the Jolida 202 amp; a very listenable combination.

I see alot of posts about how bad (dead)speakers can sound in a test chamber. Is there any difference between outdoors and anechoic chamber, or is this all a matter of taste?
Thanks!
Bernie

Outdoors is anechoic. "Anechoic" means echo free. An anechoic chamber is a room specially designed to absorb sound rather than reflect it. It is usually only anechoic down to a few hundred Hertz, below which it is modal and not anechoic. A wide open area outdoors is truly anechoic, even at the lowest frequencies.
