If Wayne is listening.....I bought my lovely girlfriend a vintage set of JBL L-150 and their just not cutting it. She loves the sound I get from my vintage JBL L-65. Can you recommend a Pi 3 way that will cover the sound spectrum without needing a sub and won't shake the tiles off her roof? I say my JBL's are vintage....however....I personally know you have been designing speakers long enough to be called "vintage" yourself.

What I'd suggest are seven π's, just like Mike Harris and I (and a bunch of other people) had back in the seventies. Remember those? Your brother made a bunch of 'em back then. Here's what they look like now, very similar to the seventies model:

The thing is, seven π cornerhorns need to be placed in room corners. If your girlfriend doesn't have two good corners to put them in, then four π's speakers might be better for her. Another nice option is to use the mid and tweeter section of the seven π and use a four π as a sub below it.

How about we get together right after Christmas and talk speakers? We can decide which of the designs are best and ask Kelly to build a pair for old times sake. If he doesn't have time, we'll use the current cabinet shop. Either way, we'll get your lady a nice set of speakers that I know she'll love.

Say Wayne, who made those mid horns? I sure would like to commission
a pair, love the way the flare matches the cabinet wood grain. (I'm only speaking of the mid horn here, not the bass part).

Our cabinet shop does those. Get a hold of me and we'll have some built for you in whatever wood and finish you like.
