ports, aka JBL 4648 cabinet, what could I expect as sub-woofer?

Maybe push-pull? [message #41960 is a reply to message #41956] Fri, 18 July 2003 10:32 Go to previous messageGo to next message

Dual ports have never been something I've done, so I'm depening on the work of others on this one. But according to Carlson's BoxPlot, it looks like cabinet tuning will be about 40Hz and performance should be pretty good. The response curve is nice and flat with f3 of about 60Hz and f10 about 35Hz. Looks like you can go up to about 20ft3 with dual Delta Pro 15's tuned to 40Hz.

You might also think about connecting the drivers in a push-pull configuration to reduce even harmonics. If you don't like the looks, you can always turn the "backwards-facing" driver around on the baffle and reconnect. I've been planning to try a push-pull pair in a π cornerhorn. That looks like a configuration that would work well, and being rear-baffle mounted, you wouldn't see the drivers.
