I am embarking on building my first ever kit, the 2-Pi Bass Reflex speaker. Does anyone have any words of wisdom, gotchas, etc., before I start? Any comments or helpful suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Brian

build the towers if you have the space.

Is that just the case of building the tower enclosure? I assume they are the same drivers, but you have the option of building either enclosure, right?

Thanks,

Brian

there's lots of good tips in the archives- some time spent browsing them would pay off. Till E. and bmar, among many others, have posted a lot of advice that would be very helpful, especially on the woodworking side- that goes way beyond the "measure twice and cut once" adage. Plan everything well and work methodically and you'll do fine.

The two π and two π tower speakers use the same components, so you can build either cabinet. I'll send plans for the tower two π speakers so check your E-Mail.

Wayne,

Space really isn't the issue, so maybe the towers are the way to go.

Is there a radical difference between the two speakers in terms of sound? I have read that the tower has more base, but maybe its looser? I was going to put the others on stands anyway, so I guess I might as well build the tower.

Which brings me to material. MDF will be heavier than particle board, but isn't it stiffer, and stiffer is better, right? I am thinking the sound characteristics will probably be unnoticable to my untrained ear, but I guess I should start with the "right" material.

Thanks,

Brian

Both speakers sound nice, but the tower two π goes about an octave lower.
