My Theater 4 Pi's seem to need more lower mid-range and bass when compared to my Sea's 5.5" monitors in an MTM arrangement
(BESL Series 5's http://www.bamberglab.com/series5.htm powered of course by a SS Threshold amp and preamp). I'm using the correct Eminance crossover and Eminence drivers with the extra components across the woofer and tweeter.
I'm using the 6db antenuation values for the tweeeter.
I'm at work or I'd be more specific. Some changes I did make... 1- I increased the cabinet depth by 1" to allow for extra internal
reinforcement. 2- I installed 2"x4" 'belts' above and below the woofer for cabinet reinforcement, and I put a 2"x4" reinforcement in the middle of the top and bottom panels. 3- I'm using the Partsexpress Acoustic 1.5" foam (instead of 2" fiberglass) on three sides. I added more foam and some fiberglass - speakers got more defined and clear I think.

Overdamping the inside of your enclosure could partially be the problem with the lack of lower midbass and bass output. Lining your enclosure walls with damping material and stuffing the box with polyfill will only hurt the response of a ported box woofer. You really only need it for damping high frequency output and cleaning up the midrange/upper midbass a bit. Unfortunately, you might have to strike a compromise between these two. JMO. Adam

Thanks for the input Wayne... You emailed the plans for the theater 4 Pi's to me awhile ago. The dimentions where 2'x 3'x 18". I made them 2' x 3' x 19". This makes them about a .5 cu ft more than specs. Will this hurt ? I used PartsExpress pxb2-1k6 part#290-634 cross overs with added elements R1 = 12 ohm, R2 = 30 ohm and C1 = .47uf for the tweeter. And C5 = 20 uf and R3 = 8 ohms for the woofer. Did I go wrong somewhere ? Are you still making crossovers for Pi 4's. Maybe it would be easier for me to just buy yours. I love the Pi's but I miss the mid-range... Thanks again for your help. Tom P.S. My old moniker was tottman2. It is the email name my company invented based on my first and last name. And thanks for the Matrix links etc... I'm ordering the resistors I need right now. After reading the links, I think I'll try my big SS amp on the Pi's, just see to see them glow ! Tom

I would love get some Pi symbols for our 2 Pi speakers (4 of them in total). How much are they? I might get an extra pair of symbols since I might build the Thermionic 3 Pi or 4 Pi some day. I plan on getting a pair of Alpha 12 or Alpha 15 drivers when I pick up the Alpha 10 drivers in Germany. Then weŽll see what happens. IŽm building a pair of ProAc Response 2.5 clones for my main system and the 2 Pi speakers for my little 2x14W 6V6GT PP tube amp. /Erik
