I just want to let you know that I’m selling a pair of Altec 606 cabinets with 601 duplex drivers on eBay. I really want them to go to a good home. Let me know if you have any feedback.
I'm getting discouraged. My ad has been on eBay for a week and not a single bid. Are they worthless? Am I doing something wrong? Anyone have any helpful ideas?
If you are asking seriously then here goes; your explanation of the condition of the units implies that they require about 600$ worth of work. Considoring that even in mint condition they might sell for 600$ it's apparent what your problem is. Give a call to the guys at GPA and see if they have any info to offer. Please remmember that Altecs do not sell for huge amounts of money even in the best condition unless you have the rarer examples such as 1505 horns and 288c drivers. 16 ohm 416 woofers or 515e or g woofers. I would check the older listings on E-Bay for price comparisons. Also the boxes are heavy and difficult to ship. Good luck.
Thanks for the honest assessment. I'm not looking to make a killing - I'm hoping they go to an Altec fan that can enjoy them. Last December I "gave away" a pair of mint Sevilles for $200. Last I heard the owner loves 'em. I've got less than a day left. Let's see what happens. Thanks again.
