I bought one the other day to replace the little Pioneer I had. That one is going to the museum to play the Threshing Bee DVD's we have.

The 26 has a fancy learning remote. I don't think it works very well though. I've been fooling around with it for over a week and haven't learned much. Except if you hit the DTS button while in stereo mode the sound disppears until you stumble on the direct button

The fellow wanted 200.00 for it and so I figured it would do me for HT for many years. I played the Dire Straits DVD and noticed a big difference in sound. 100 WPC makes a big difference in reserve and headroom from 60WPC.

It's setup for DTS, THX and all that but only has 5.1 channels but I can live with that I have one question though. My surround speakers (KLH 17's) can either sit behind me or up high on the wall on the sides. Which do you think is better?

I noticed the same thing with older Yamaha receivers, the 100 watt version has a lot more oomph than the 50 watt one; More so than the 3dB difference would make you expect.

It sounds more relaxed if that's an accurate statement. The small one seemed to strain a bit when the sound got intense. This one just idles along without breaking a sweat.

You're right, it's the extra headroom that keeps it from clipping that makes all the difference.

It should be up high on the wall on the sides for excellent effects.
