Sonotube constructs seem to be related directly to home theatre if the links are an indication. This site has a bunch of them and a lot of construction detail as well.
I find the sonotubes fascinating but the Shiva subwoofer prices daunting. Check out the 12 Shivas Dancing construct which actually diverges into Infinite Baffle terrain.
From the site below you can even get to some heavy iron for cars.

Hi Lon, I usually hit the refresh button when I visit a forum so I can see new posts, including my own. My browser won't automatically check to see if a web page has changed from the version stored in its cache. So I have to hit the refresh button manually. Wayne

I can't really salivate over a speaker sonstruction that can double as a load-bearing support for a house. :-) Just too much.
But the Sonotube construct intrigues me and Bill Fitzmaurice made mention that some sub drivers were on deal at MCM.
The Shiva costs about $130. Does Eminence or any of the others in the 8" to maybe 10" range meet the requirements of a sonotube? They show 2 drivers and a longish port on the interior. And where do you put your plate amp?
I think the sonotube can be built with off the shelf parts from Home Depot including the circular top and bottom. A groove would have to be cut in pre-made small size 'table tops' they have to accept the tube. A 4" hole saw can make the port cutout for either carpet roll core or PVC.
My high school geometry tells me you need the radius of a circle to find the center. Are there any methods I missed which can calculate the center w/out a radius?
Alternately, here's a kit I posted some months ago from CSS:

Lon, Sorry it’s taken so long to get back. How can you not salivate over the Shiva 12. I've been trying to find a site I saw some time ago on this sub that was built into the floor. I think it was an Italian audio site that showed like 24 12" subs set in a "horn" made out of stone or concrete that ran under the guy’s listening room. Pretty spectacular looking. I think one of your earlier posts said something to the effect that sonotube-type subs were mostly for HT. Are you familiar with Hsu subs. Very similar to sonotube construction, but from everything I've read are considered "audiophile" grade, that is accurate and very musical. Finding the center of a circle can be done by several methods: 1) Center of mass. Assuming perfectly round and uniform density, the point at which it balances is the center. 2) Also, the longest cord (a line that connects two points on a circle's circumference) passes through the center. Simply measure the longest distance across the circle and mark a line. Do this several times around the circle and the intersection of the lines should be the center (or pretty close).....Colin

The 12 Shivas Dancing is from the above link to other sonotube links. I have simply no way of building anything into the floor, but there is an Open Baffle site that shows a number of these projects. And in here, you may be able to do a search for The World's Biggest Speaker... a project made in Italy where a concrete form as big as a basement makes the basshorn. Makes you all tingly, doesn't it? ;-)
Here is another sonotube which has been in the TL forum...
