my marshall avt100 functioned fine up to a couple months ago when it developed a buzzing sound.
the sound is not present unless there is an instrument cable connected.
when you do connect an instrument, or just the cable, the buzz appears, becoming louder in the od1 and od2 channels.

my suspicion is that a mishap with an idiot tripping over my instrument cable caused damage to the input jack of the amp and now the pin of the instrument cable isn't contacting properly with the jack.

ANYBODY AGREE OR DISAGREE WITH THIS EXPLANATION.

I'm getting a new guitar 2moro so i'd appreciate help in fixing my amp.

It could definitely be a damaged jack. The input jack here is what is known as a "shorting" type, and shorts to ground to prevent it from buzzing when nothing is connected. There are several different configurations, depending on the individual amplifier, and some have many contacts that serve different functions. Sometimes, one can get messed up and cause a hum or buzz with and instrument plugged in (or not). It could have also damaged the printed circuit board, though unlikely. Some amps, like the Line 6 POD, are notorious for this. It's not a matter of IF jack and PC board damage will occur, but WHEN.

It could have also damaged something else if the amp was tipped over and hit the floor good and hard.
