what are the advantages over a series parallel line source.I had come across about 200 radio shack 40-1197(NO MORE ARE FOR SALE THIS IS NOT A SALES PITCH).I have about 75 leftwhat would be the best use and the best efficencey for 2 channel.What about a open baffle line array.would the baffles be big.would they integrate well as a midrange for ahorn loaded system lets say 100 HZ to 10K.
I favor near field line arrays as I detail in my white paper on this subject. Depending on the number of drivers that you array, you can achieve 10 dB or more additional sensitivity. You will likely need a line of tweeters to handle the highs as the 40-1197 shouldn't be used much above about 4000 Hz because of comb lining.
The Bessel array thought is a non-starter in my opinion as it is far field effect and likely not compatible with usage in a normal listening room. Bessel arrays have little to offer.
