What I like about this piece is the fact that the guy built them as a joke out of scraps and it's become his main system. Good graphics too. What puzzled me was the use of the Audax driver (purchased in UK) which I have not heard much about. Elsewhere it said that PE had 'em but a quick check of the catalog came up empty.
Other variation on this that intrigues me is the voigt pipe that uses one speak facing front and another facing back... forgot the term for it. :-P

'Tis Lon. ;-) A more careful reading of the construction notes says that the Audax driver used is discontinued and so is not in the PE catalogue.
The Goldwood 8" FR PE part number 290-379 is _again_ out of stock but would perhaps model well for the Voigt pipe. Since this driver is selling out on a regular basis I'm thinking that the driver is being used for current projects since it became available about half a year ago.
Followup remarks did say that making a Voigt Pipe includes a fair bit of luck. Terry Cain has also made this design.

The 300b section at Walton's is an excellent presentation. You may want to cross-reference it to the tube forum. I think people sometimes get stuck in the same forums all the time. :-)
The Voigt pipes look like a novelty but that's what attracted me to them... their sculptural appeal. The Full Range Driver site has more on this as does the t-line discussion.
There was a neat open baffle treatment I ran across today but I'll put that up separate.

Not much info on this but the concept is nice. It relates to what I believe is called the Linkwitz design. [I have had lots of posts blow up because I tried to link something only to come back to the desktop so will make a separate ref again.]

Here are some tests via the t-line forum from Martin King [message #20001 is a reply to message #19996] |

Not sure how the TQWT got going but prob'ly from the original Augspurgher info available at t-lines as well. Aesthetically, I prefer the bookends look of mounting the driver on the 'parallel' side. Don't know if it makes a difference, but it would effect construction of the vent.
Also many other groovy things at the t-line site.

Yes, My Mad catalog has it as a 6". I put up this link because Akhilesh asked about why the shape vs. standard BR. As a design, I think even a 4" will give the effect in a less huge enclosure. TC may disagree. His posted design of TQWT at the full range forum is called Bigger Is Better."
Since Martin King still has some information to add to the report, more will follow.
