After an experimental period... and a few more experiemnts to go,
the config for making PVC pipe enclosures seems to sound best with
a tee-fitting at the base facing forward. This will give more
of a horn effect along the length of the tube. What didn't work
was having the bottom of the tube open straight down through a
base and into carpeting. The original Alpha TL specifies the
line closed at one end and open at the other... and that's all.
I find this hard to understand because most speaker setups will
be on carpeting.

My living room looks pretty weird right now: one pipe length is
73 inches not including the base, so the speaker and the elbow
it's attached to are pretty close to the ceiling. Fortunately
I have high ceilings.

My friend with the golden ears and I are going to put on the organ
recital from Pub Radio again tomorrow night. This gangly long
length is just to see how low the pipe will go. I have it's
mate set up as a much shorter 50" overall length for comparison
in listening. I lightly stuffed the long length.

Tunes to test the long pipes include some Tangerine Dream,
that organ recital from Minnesota Public radio called Pipe Dreams
and some experimental music airchecked from radio from a
group called Air Sculpture.

I have not studied the Martin King site as yet, but once we
get through the novelty phase of this, I want to cut them down
to a height on a more human scale. I also acquired the T/S
info for the calculations necessary using Martins programs/
sheets. At one point I know MK's program was going to be a
sale only item. Needless to say I have not used it at this point.
