Is there a sonic penalty to be paid for using an adaptor to attach a 1" mouth compression driver to a 2" throat horn? I've got the 1" Altec 902 drivers, and a pair of 1" to 2" adaptors, and now I'm looking at horns. I'd like to try crossing over at a frequency somewhere between 500-800, which means 2" throat horns, from what I've seen. What say you all?

?? Altec bolted these to the 511B crossed at 500-800Hz/2nd order or to the 811B for 800-1200Hz/2nd order, no adapters required. WRT using adapters, unless the joints are seamless they add another discontinuity to cause HF reflections back to the throat, so unless you have a specific lens you need for your app I recommend using the ones they were designed for and damp them to suit (at least the bells).
